The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Ticket Abuse, FanFair Alliance and Society of Ticket Agents & Retailers (STAR) have published an open letter to Google regarding Viagogo’s search advertising. The letter demands that Google, “one of the world’s most trusted brands”, stops promoting “one of the least trusted”.
Viagogo are a valuable customer for Google, spending a considerable amount on paid search each year, but Google are now being urged to protect consumers and clamp down on Viagogo’s misleading search advertising. Viagogo more often than not is at the top of any Google search for tickets, when primary tickets for the show are not yet sold out or, even worse, the tickets for sale will not be valid to gain entry to the event. Hundreds of individuals who have been led to Viagogo through Google search and consequently mis-sold tickets they did not know where being resold for profit.
